UPSC Prelims 2020: Postponement Plea to be heard next on September 30
UPSC Prelims 2020 Postponement plea would now be heard on September 30, 2020. The Supreme Court has asked Union Public Service Commission, UPSC, to file a reply as to why the IAS, IPS recruitment examination cannot be postponed. “Deferring the exam further would nullify the objective of conducting the exam for various government departments,” Advocate Naresh Kaushik has argued.
UPSC Postponement Plea to be taken up on Wednesday – September 30
Justice Khanwilkar has asked UPSC to file an affidavit in the court. The matter would now be taken up on September 30. Adv Anushree Kapadia has also been asked to file a copy of the IA to the UPSC Counsel and othr parties and asked UPSC to take care of the same in their reply.
Impossible to delay UPSC Prelims: UPSC
Adv. Naresh Kaushik has appeared for the UPSC. He states that it is impossible to postpone the examination. Justice Khanwilkar asks him to submit an affidavit listing the reasons why the examination cannot be postponed. The matter adjourned, to be taken up on Wednesday.
Father of CAPF serving officer preparing for UPSC Prelims also submits request to postpone
Among the requests to postpone is also a rquest from a father of a serving officer of CAPF. The application requests intervetion from the Supreme Court sharing that his son and many like him who have been working as frontline workers have not been able to take preparatory leave due to the pandemic. The letter further states that conducting the examination now is an injustice to many such aspirants who have been serving the nation and society in these difficult times.

Nearly 6 lakh candidates to appear for UPSC Prelims 2020 on October 4, many front line workers.
While the apex court has rejected pleas for postponement of national level entrance examinations like JEE and NEET 2020, the petitioners arguing for postponement of UPSC Prelims 2020 have shared how there is a material difference in the two categories of exam. Plea has pointed out that many of the aspirants of UPSC Prelims are front line workers, who have either cotracted the disease or have been too busy to take the necessary time off for preparing for the exam. As many as 6 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the UPSC Prelims 2020 exam.
