The Union Cabinet extended the tenure of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Commission by six months as its functioning was affected due to the Corona virus lockdown.
On 24 June 2020, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the Union Cabinet has decided to extend the tenure of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Commission by six months. The tenure of the Commission has been extended till 31 January 2021. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the extension of tenure of the Commission.

Why extended tenure?
